Two weeks into it…

… and I have to say that things are settling down. The management team has done a wonderful job of listening to the Teaching Staff and implementing necessary changes to ensure a smooth operation. In fact, the new system still needs to be flushed out a little, but it is moving right along at a good pace. The one hiccup is our Language and Writing (L&W) Classes.

This isn’t the fault of the school, but the publisher. You see, while we have new reading text books with a lot of new language components, the actual L&W texts haven’t been updated. In addition, there’s just too much writing work to be completed in the reading class, that some of the reading class writing assignments have been shifted to the L&W class.

This has caused some confusion in the students and parents. We knew it would take some time to flush things out and we’re still working on the Writing class curriculum… which takes me to my second item of news.

Because of my Instructional design work and having to re-write a lot of the curriculum lately, I’ve been asked to step up to the management level starting Tuesday. I’m not sure what I’ll really be doing, other than giving input on curriculum issues and assisting in the training of teachers. I’m also in the process of planning a 3-week field trip to the US for students in June, of which, I’ll be one of the teachers assigned to chaperon.

Fun time!
